The common musk turtle, scientifically known as Sternotherus odoratus, is a small freshwater turtle native to North America. Musk turtles are largely aquatic and spend most of their time in the water, they are primarily carnivorous, feeding on a diet that includes aquatic insects, crustaceans, mollusks, small fish, and occasionally plant matter.
In the wild, common musk turtles can live for several decades, often reaching 50 years of age or more.
